Newsletter
Friends of UIU Dallas,
I am thrilled to extend my warmest congratulations to each and every one of you, especially
Angela Agogo (Community Service Chair) for your exceptional dedication and participation that led to our chapter to win the prestigious UIU Cares award during the UIU National Convention for our outstanding community service initiatives. Our unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others in our community and abroad truly embodies the spirit of our chapter. Our efforts have not only made a difference in the lives of those we have served, but has also set a
shining example for others to follow.
As we bask in the glory of this well-deserved recognition, I encourage you to keep up the momentum and finish the year strong. Let's continue to channel our collective energy towards participating in our upcoming social, cultural, and community service events. Let's remain united in our pursuit of
Igbo excellence and community engagement.
Your support is a constant source of inspiration, and I have no doubt that together, we will continue making a positive impact and elevating the reputation of UIU Dallas. Let's continue to shine brightly as a beacon of compassion and unity.
I encourage you to continue spreading the word about our amazing chapter. There are still plenty of
Ndi Igbo people in the community that can benefit from joining our family. “Ndị okenye chọkwara obodo nta, ọ bụghị naanị ụmụaka” (adults need villages too, not just children). Let’s continue working together to help our chapter grow!
I wish you a happy and prosperous August.
May this month bring you health, achievement,
and inspiration. God Bless!
All my best,
Yvonne Igodan

Back-to-School Fundraiser
Back-To-School Fundraisers are a great way to kick off the school year, create a sense of community and help with the purchase of additional classroom supplies. It isn't fair that teachers have to shoulder the cost of school supplies. The success of back-to-school fundraisers shows that the community agrees, and understands the need. Join UIU as we bless the children of the Dallas Life Homeless Center with much-needed school supplies.
Supplies needed:
Crayons (16 or 24 count)
Scissors
Rulers
Construction paper
Notecards
Clear backpacks
Composition books
Pencil pouches
Small binders
No time to buy supplies?
That’s ok you can donate using this Eventbrite link.
We will collect supplies on September 10, 2023, at our monthly General Body Meeting.
Our Calling Homeless Ministry
Let’s battle homelessness together! Over a year, many people in Dallas County find themselves without a home. Whether due to mental illness, diminished opportunity, unfortunate life choices, or violence and trauma in their past, these individuals have lost hope, faith, and sight of their true path. OurCalling is a faith-based organization that leads the homeless to live a healthy and sustainable lifestyle by building lasting relationships and making disciples on the streets. Join UIU as we partner with OurCalling on the frontline of the battle to cure homelessness. We will engage with the unsheltered homeless, learn their stories, identify their needs, and connect their hearts to the desire for a better life. Volunteering will occur on August 26, 2023, 9:30 am-1:00 pm. There is a maximum of 15 volunteers, so RSVP on Eventbrite by August 25th, 2023.
